Police Crime Analyst

Salary Range: $26.68 – $35.85
The City of Attleboro seeks to fill the position of Police Crime Analyst in the
Attleboro Police Department. This position is responsible for coordinating crime analysis
activities by collecting, categorizing, and analyzing and disseminating timely, accurate and
useful information that describes crime and disorder patterns, crime and disorder trends
and potential suspects.
Duties: Researching, gathering, and analyzing crime data to identify crime patterns,
suspect characteristics, and/or demographic information. Compiling and utilizing computer
systems data to prepare reports, graphs and maps for presentation to management. Sorting
and maintaining police reports, crime information, bulletins, and articles used to document
criminal history or statistics. Prepares Uniform Crime reports and information for the
National Incident Based Reporting System; Recommending staffing patterns and/or levels
based anticipated criminal activity. Identify, analyze and report on high crime or high call
(hot spots) areas and locations where public disorder has, or is likely to occur within the
community. Preparing bulletins, and/or disseminating information to the Chief of Police
and staff members. Recognizes the philosophy of problem-oriented and intelligence-led
policing. Responsible for developing/organization materials and documents for
COMPTSTAT meetings.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in criminology, criminal science, criminal psychology,
geographic information systems, criminal justice or related field preferred, but not required
and at least two years of experience as a crime analyst or other associated analyst field or
any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must understand the principles
of crime and date analysis. Must be a self-starter, able to work with limited direction.
