On November 22nd, 2014 the Attleboro Police Department was called to a residence on Ashton Road for a reported theft that had occurred. The resident reported that several weeks earlier, a young boy arrived at his residence on a Sunday afternoon. According to the resident, a woman with a dog was accompanying the boy and stood across the street.
The boy offered to sell the resident a coupon book as a fundraiser for his school. The resident thought the incident to be suspicious since the boy did not possess the coupon book nor could he provide details. The resident refused to make a purchase and the boy left. The boy returned several days later at which time the resident said he felt sorry for the boy and gave him the $29.00 requested for the purchase.
The boy was described as Caucasian, 4 ½ feet tall and weighing between 85 and 100 pounds. He had a short haircut and was wearing a T-shirt and shorts. He was riding a BMX style bicycle.
The woman was described as Caucasian, in her mid 40’s, 5’5” tall and weighing 130 pounds. She had shoulder length blonde hair and wore a tan coat and blue jeans. The woman was holding a Black Labrador with a leash.
Residents are reminded to be vigilant when making fundraising purchases and should verify the seller’s validity first. This can be done by asking appropriate questions or reviewing product materials or documents.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information on this incident or who may have also been victimized is asked to contact the Attleboro Police Department at 508-222-1212.
